Our Team

Ringleader and Principal Investigator
Dr. Lily Dove
Lily (she/her) is an assistant professor in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Tech. She earned her PhD in Environmental Science & Engineering from Caltech in 2023 and has an S.B. in Earth, Atmospheric, & Planetary Sciences from MIT. Her research interests include polar oceanography, multi-scale biophysical interactions, and equity in the geosciences. She uses a range of tools, including in situ observations, satellite remote sensing, and idealized numerical models to investigate these questions. Outside of work, she enjoys reading (any genre except historical fiction) and enjoying the many farmer's markets across Atlanta.
Postdoctoral Scholars

Dr. Xiang Yang
Xiang (he/him) is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Tech. He completed his PhD and Honours at the University of Tasmania, where he developed a broad interest in Southern Ocean biogeochemistry. At Georgia Tech, his research focuses on combining BGC-Argo float observations with biogeochemical models to better understand the characteristics of Antarctic Winter Water and its role in the global ocean carbon cycle. Outside the lab, Xiang enjoys exploring new foods while traveling and is always eager to try new activities, especially outdoor adventures.
Undergraduate Students

Jerry Chen
Jerry (he/him) is a sophomore pursuing a B.S. in CS at Georgia Tech. He's passionate about representing and exploring complex real-world systems through modeling/simulation, as well as the furthering applications of high-performance computing in science/technology. In his free time, Jerry enjoys tennis and pickleball, reading, and is considering taking up chess or calligraphy.

Katherine Logue
Katherine is an undergraduate student at the Georgia Institute of Technology majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Her primary research interest is the intersection of computing and conservation, exploring how code can help us understand the planet in the face of climate change. In her free time, Katherine loves going on hikes, exploring new places, and embroidering!

Katherine (Kat) Poch
Katherine (she/her) is a third-year Environmental Science major at Georgia Tech. In addition to being passionate about climate change, she is especially interested in marine sciences and the history of Earth. In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and running.

Kaelyn Young
Kaelyn (she/her) is a third-year student studying Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and Astrobiology at Georgia Tech. Her interests include climate change, paleoceanography, paleoclimatology, and applying analytical methods to better understand our oceans. Outside of class, she enjoys traveling the world and taking her dog to the park.
